Texas-style barbecue comes to you with Capelo’s Barbecue in Redwood City. It’s been a labor of love for the owner, John Capelo. He’s worked in catering for about 12 years, but later transitioned into the food truck business, and now has his very own restaurant and beer garden on Middlefield Road in Redwood City.
That’s where I met up with John to talk more about the business. He grew up in Texas, so he knows barbecue. Lucky for the rest of us, he brought some of that Texas flavor to the Bay Area. Capelo’s uses wood-fire commercial smokers with quality meat sourced locally from San Francisco’s own Golden Gate Meat Company.
John and his team invite you to try it out for yourself at Capelo’s in Redwood City. The location recently opened a beer and wine garden where kids and even dogs are welcome, too. Some local craft beers and wine are on the menu, plus a DJ comes in every Friday. If you’re tight on time, you can arrange a pre-order pickup. If you’re planning an upcoming event, Capelo’s also does catering.
